"Shibal biyong" is a compound noun combining shibal (a swearword for frustration) and biyong (expense). It describes a culture of spending that is excessive (e.g. purchasing luxury food despite being poor) as a coping mechanism to stress.

The 4T refers to traditional beauty standards to be rejected - the corset (탈코르셋), the hypersexual depictions of women in Japanese otaku culture (탈오타쿠), religion (탈종교), and K-pop idol culture (탈아이돌).

A Victim Impact Statement is a written or oral statement presented to the court at the sentencing of the defendant. Many times victims, their family members, and friends of the victim participate in both written and verbal statements. Victim Impact Statements were created as an opportunity for the judge to hear how a criminal action has affected the victim's loved ones. The Gacaca (pronounced ga-cha-cha) Courts were a system of community justice in Rwanda following the 1994 genocide. Communities would elect individuals of integrity to make up the Bench of the Gacaca Courts (commonly known as Inyangamugayo judges). These Gacaca Courts were tasked with resolving disputes that had occurred during the genocide and trying criminals of genocide.
